Dear Becky,
Personally, I would like to see a DNA test done on the Borom and Cofer evidence for selfish reasons. Roger and I know way too much about those cases and have gone on record as positive that Gary did not commit the last two murders.
The Christian in me says that you can not execute a man without exhausting his defense and looking at all the physical evidence. There is nothing more perplexing than 11th hour, 31 year old tissue slides.
The Columbus GA citizen in me knows that Gary's case has dragged on far too long and that there is too much DNA evidence in those New York cases to feel very sorry for him. I personally know some folks in Columbus GA who are ready for Gary to go and you can't blame them. The man did enough armed robbery to do another 100 years. Our book does not deal much with Gary.
If you have read our book, you know that William Hance was convicted in Muscogee County of the Brenda Gail Faison murder on the basis of confessions with no attorney, witnesses from a separate case, handwriting samples, a fingerprint from a letter, phone calls and alleged murder weapons with absolutely no blood, brain matter, hair, finger prints or anything else found on them. There was nothing presented in the William Hance Case to DNA test, nothing! There was not one spec of physical evidence that actually showed that Hance physically murdered the woman. We have found evidence to show that it was in fact impossible for Hance to have physically committed those murders the way the police and the courts and even Hance initially said he did.
What we have found in our study of these cases is that convictions are in the hands of JURIES! After witnessing shoddy police work, questionable tactics by prosecutors, poor jobs on the part of defense attorneys, and everything else that goes into what passes for a fair American judicial system, it all boils down to what 12 citizens (peers) say. Hance's jury actually referred to him as the Nword during their deliberations about whether or not he was going to live or die.
I could conitnue on about these cases for months and I won't put you through that. Love TW
